I’ve been called an ideas man, a problem solver, and a word nerd. And whilst there might be some truth to those allegations, I see my primary calling card as that of the storyteller. This is my story.
The first time I picked up a pen or punched some keys in the interests of commerce was almost three decades ago. In that time I’ve written reviews for a car magazine, been an in-house writer at a TV station, penned a screenplay or two - and made more than a few ads for more than a few advertising agencies… in a smorgasbord of countries (OK, well… five countries). I’ve produced work for pretty much every type of product, in every category - and written for every communications medium (except for the ones that haven’t been invented yet). Oh, and i’ve won some awards along the way, too.
I completed a business degree back in the last millennium, so I’m fully aware that creative solutions in this millennium need to be more than just creative for creativity’s sake. They need to be anchored in human or product truths - and they need to deliver tangible results… whether the objective is building brand love, selling some stuff and things, or changing perceptions and misconceptions. Sometimes the best way to do that isn’t actually making an ad. And sometimes it is.
